In Praise of Daisy

I woke up at 3:15 this morning after dreaming of my father and could not get back to sleep. I’ve dreamed of my dad several times since his passing and usually it involves him and me talking or being able to fly but last night in my sleep I went home to see him and found that the house was gone and I had nowhere to stay; it doesn’t a PHD in dreams to figure out what that means.  After waking up I couldn’t fall asleep so I got out of bed. Normally when I can’t sleep I’ll go to the living room and turn on the TV but Nina’s mom is at the house and I didn’t want to wake her so I grabbed my laptop and sat down in the office in back of the house (we call it an office but it’s mostly a storage room with desks).

I wake up in the middle of the night frequently and my dog (Daisy J. Dog) sometimes joins me in my late night TV watching.  This morning Daisy woke up, noticed I was gone and went looking for me in the usual place; when she couldn’t find me she went back to the bedroom and woke up my wife who then helped her find me.  When it comes to things to be thankful for there are few things that are better than a dog who looks for you when you are lost.

Great story! I also couldn’t sleep and was sitting here thinking of your dad because I spent some time with uncle Tony last night and I thought it really sucks that I can’t call Mike anymore and tell him these funny stories about my dad and laugh with him. Thinking of you and you & Nina have a great Thanksgiving!

  15. Aw, what a good dog!

  16. I can understand but I’m a cat person.
