A Super Special Day

If you’re keeping score at home, today marks the 6th anniversary of the Be The Boy blog. Please celebrate this occasion in the way that suits you best.

I started this blog with the goal of telling stories that mattered to me and I hoped that someone would read them and think they mattered too.  Nearly 2,000 posts later I feel like I’ve achieved my goal and I hope that they have connected with you in some way.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for reading, commenting and generally being awesome; without you I’d feel kind of lonely over here.

To celebrate six years of Be the Boy here are six posts from the past that I like a lot.  They may not be the best things I’ve ever written but they represent the kinds of things I talk about here.  I’m sure I can think of many more examples but these are the six that come to mind today (if you have a favorite of your own feel free to tell me what it is).

Letters Never Sent

Things To Do on a Friday Night

Three Parts to The Story

Heroes and Villains and Women’s Clothing

Young Girls They Do Get Weary

Thanks for reading and thanks for being the best.

  1. I celebrated by taking off my pants and dancing around in my underwear, shouting “Hooray, Be The Boy! Happy Anniversary!”

Of course, I’m not much of a dancer, so it was really more of a palsied stomping meander around the room. And my downstairs neighbors hate me now. As do the neighbors who can see in my window.

    F’ ’em! Happy anniversary.

  2. Happy blogoversary, or whatever you want to call it.

  3. Congratulations Be the Boy! My blog will be turning 6 soon too! 2000 posts? impressive!

Here’s to 6 years and many more to come. Love “Letters Never Sent.”

  5. I think Burns! has the right idea…

  6. Congratulations! Your blog is one of the more “real” blogs with funny, heartwarming/breaking stories. Some of us are too lazy/busy/shy to do such a great job. Write on!

  7. *Raises a glass* Here’s to 6 more years of BeTheBoyBlogness!

Thank you for reminding me why I love your writing.
