Over the weekend, Dr. Mrs. Slackmistress-Betheboy informed me that we had an unused gift card that we received as a wedding gift. Found money is always good news so we made a list of the things we could do with that money (you can guess who suggested which item):
Get prescriptions filed
Buy fake mustaches
Stock up on girlie underwear
Go taco crazy down at Los Tacos
Those were all worthwhile suggestions but in the end we tossed them all aside and bought Guitar Hero for the Wii and rocked all weekend.
Actually let me rephrase that, Dr. Mrs. Slackmistress-Betheboy ROCKED all weekend, while I merely lowercase rocked. To be fair, she played much more than I did. In the four hours between hooking up the guitar and starting Saturday’s video chat (part of which is archived here), the game play breakdown went like this:
Me: 15 minutes of fumbling around.
Her: 3 hours and 45 minutes of her rocking me like a hurricane.
Basically it was the first time she showed up at my house all over again, both in the sense that she rocked and I realized I needed a lot of practice to catch up.

I love that game… so much that I’m currently taking NSAIDs and wearing a tennis-elbow brace.
Three weeks ago-
Me: Doc, there’s something wrong with my left elbow.
Doc: (palpitates around while I wince) Yup. That’s tennis elbow. I didn’t realize that you’re left handed.
Me: I’m not.
Doc: How the hell did you do that?!?
Me: I Dunno… …
So, you know I had to go out yesterday afternoon and pick up the Aerosmith version.
And promptly re-injure my elbow.

Billy,
I know it’s kinda hard to follow without being able to respond to the prompts we’re reading on the screen. You should come join us for a guitar hero battle.

Sorry, unless it has ‘Madden’ or ‘NBA’ in the title, I don’t really do the video games.
That being said, I would like to contribute to the pink guitar fund so this game does not single-handedly lead to the demise of the agency.

Thank you, but it is already taken care of. I highly recommend trying the game though.

So, are you going to post your Wii friend address so we can all get rocked by the Slackmistress?

Andrew – I haven’t hooked it up to play online yet.

Rock on, dude! We have not stopped playing GUITAR HERO since we bought our Wii either. In fact, it got so bad at one point that we had to restrict our playing to Wii-ends so could actually get shit done during the week…insanity!
But welcome to generation Wii, amigo! And don’t worry about sucking at GUITAR HERO at first, my experience has been that ladies are much better at it out of the box. Like yourself, I am just now finding my groove…
