A Few Things for a Friday

1- In the comments following the story I posted yesterday there was some discussion and criticism of the fact that I was writing about making fun of a little person, or as I said, an angry midget. Some readers found this insensitive and let me know it, furthermore they pointed out a few other instances where I have been less than kind in my descriptions of people with mental and physical disabilities. I hope that everyone understands that by telling that story yesterday I was trying to make fun of myself by showing that a mostly good person can sometimes be an insensitive jerk. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised when someone then calls me an insensitive jerk. The criticism yesterday was deserved and the point has been made clearly, I appreciate the opinions and will try to be more careful with what I say. Thanks.

2- As some of you know already the slackmistress and I will be web casting our wedding ceremony, because we are nerds. The ceremony itself will be quick, probably 15 minutes or so at 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday May 10th (you’ll have to figure out the time where you are on your own). We will be sending out an invite to view the web cast sometime in the next week or so and anyone who wants to see can watch but in order do so we need to email you with the web cast information.

So, if you want to watch all you have to do is email me at betheboy@gmail.com, or, you can leave your email address in the comments below. The web cast should be available to see for 24 hours after the ceremony so you can watch it over and over again.

3- If I haven’t mentioned it before, I suck at poker. If you don’t believe me just ask me how I went from a huge stack of chips to out the door in three hands last night. I know this comes as no surprise to anyone; it just feels cathartic to say it.
