Maybe the Cookie was Right

The best and worst fortune I ever got was in a single cookie at a Thai restaurant in Studio City, CA. It said “Keep Your Expectations Reasonable”. I’m not sure if this meant I should aim low or just try not to get hurt, but I seem to be poor at either option. I’m a daydreamer, a Walter Mitty type but with more hair pulling and kissing and I wear my heart out on my sleeve when it comes to these daydreams. This blog after all is largely a catalogue of the things I’d like and the disasters that sometimes followed when I try to reach them.

A few years back I paid a visit to god’s customer service desk to try and get a refund for the wishes that never came true but I was told that I had to keep them, so I do. This way of doing business has its drawbacks, sometimes I say too much or do too much and sometimes I hope for too much but I’m trying to keep a lid on it even if I don’t know quite how. Keep my expectations reasonable…I’ll try to.
